Meet The Masters
Ladera's Meet the Masters Art Program is a parent-docent led experience based upon state and district standards in which students are provided with a variety of studio lessons using different mediums, while discussing different artists, their style of work, historical background and an opportunity to view great works of art.
The five year program allows students to gain a wide variety of perspectives over a large period of time in history using a variety of teaching strategies including but not limited to: discussion, video, hands-on art application, compare and contrast, and portfolio development. Emphasis is placed on the experience, skill building, and the 'happy accident' rather than a "finished" or "realistic" rendering.
Consider volunteering your time as a parent/art docent in your child's classroom! Docents attend a training meeting 7 times throughout the year, and then schedule about an hour to conduct the lesson in the classroom. Most materials are prepared in advance for your lesson. It's a great way to be involved, and to learn more about these renowned artists.
